HARARE – A security guard stationed at Hallingbury Primary School in Mabelreign has died following a violent robbery attack, as community leaders warn of a deepening security crisis across Harare’s western suburbs. The fatal incident, confirmed on April 14, has heightened fear among residents in Mabelreign, Sunridge, Greencroft, and Westgate, coming amid a surge in armed robberies in the area.

A 31-year-old man from Buhera has died after allegedly drinking an unknown liquid at his in-laws’ home in Bikita following a domestic dispute, police have confirmed. The incident occurred on 27 February at around 6pm in Village 7B under Chief Budzi. The deceased has been identified as Courage Zvoumba of Chief Nyashanu in Buhera. He had reportedly travelled to his wife’s family home in an effort to resolve marital differences.

The incidents occurred along Kazungula Road and the Bulawayo–Victoria Falls Road in Chinotimba, within days of each other. The attacks have intensified fears in neighbourhoods that border wildlife corridors, where elephants increasingly move through residential areas.
