A CID Drugs and Narcotics Unit officer has appeared in court accused of smuggling 40.8kg of dagga and 200 bottles of codeine-based cough syrup into Zimbabwe through illegal crossing points near Beitbridge.

BEITBRIDGE — A 64-year-old truck driver has been arrested after he was allegedly caught attempting to smuggle nearly two tonnes of dagga valued at approximately US$210,800 into Zimbabwe through the Beitbridge Border Post. The suspect, identified as Thapson Ndou, was arrested following an operation by law enforcement authorities who intercepted the consignment during routine border security checks.
