Thomas Mapfumo says he was paid in full for performances linked to Jah Prayzah's wedding and Wicknell Chivayo's birthday and will return for the rescheduled shows.

Jah Prayzah and Rufaro have indefinitely postponed their October 3 wedding in Glen Lorne following the death of their close friend and benefactor Wicknell Chivayo.

Thomas “Mukanya” Mapfumo has issued a cease-and-desist notice against nephew Kurai Makore, barring him from performing or commercially exploiting Mapfumo's musical works.

Thomas Mapfumo has defended accepting US$1 million to perform at Jah Prayzah's wedding and a private event hosted by Wicknell Chivayo, saying it is payment for his services rather than a gift.

The National Arts Council of Zimbabwe has welcomed Thomas Mapfumo's return for performances later this year, describing the Chimurenga legend's homecoming as a major boost for Zimbabwe's arts sector and cultural heritage.
