Two men have been jailed for a combined 19 years after being convicted of robbing pirate taxi drivers of their vehicles in separate incidents in Masvingo and Chipinge, police have confirmed.

BULAWAYO – Police have launched an investigation into a daring robbery at the Cold Storage Company (CSC) in Bulawayo, where thieves allegedly stole more than US$80,000 after disabling the company's security systems and breaking into several office safes. Investigators believe the robbery may have been an inside job, citing evidence that the suspects appeared to have detailed knowledge of the premises, its security arrangements and the location of the cash.

HARARE — A 45-year-old man from Chitungwiza allegedly became the victim of a sexual assault and robbery after being lured into a suspected illegal mushikashika taxi while travelling from Harare to Chitungwiza on Sunday, police have confirmed. The incident has raised fresh concerns over the safety of commuters using unregistered public transport vehicles operating along major routes in Harare and Chitungwiza.

Prosecutors state that a total of US$3,874 was stolen, none of which has yet been recovered by authorities. Police investigations are ongoing, with a manhunt currently underway for Washington Sithole. The case highlights the vulnerabilities businesses face when internal security protocols are compromised, as police continue to treat the matter as a suspected inside job.
