Human rights lawyer and opposition politician Tendai Biti and former MDC activist Morgan Ncube have been remanded to 16 June after appearing in court on allegations of holding an unauthorised meeting in Mutare. The two appeared before Mutare magistrate Honest Musiiwa on Tuesday, when the matter was postponed to next month. Prosecutor Brighton Garikai Chiromo represented the State. MUTARE — The trial of prominent lawyer, former Finance Minister, and Constitution Defenders Forum (CDF) convener, Tendai Biti, alongside former Beitbridge Mayor Morgan Ncube, has been deferred to May 26, 2026. The postponement was granted this past Monday by Mutare Magistrate Honest Musiiwa, following an application by the State, which indicated that the prosecution was not yet prepared to proceed with the case.
