BULAWAYO – The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed that 12 people died in the deadly kombi explosion along the Bulawayo–Beitbridge Road, as authorities begin identifying victims and investigating the cause of the blast. The incident occurred on April 16, 2026, at around 12:45PM near the 27-kilometre peg close to Esigodini, when a Toyota Quantum carrying passengers suddenly exploded.

Toddler drowns in bucket of water in Bulawayo, police urge vigilance
HARARE – A one-year-old girl has died after drowning in a bucket of water in Nketa, Bulawayo, in a tragic incident that police say highlights the dangers of leaving young children unsupervised. According to Nomalanga Msebele, the Bulawayo Provincial Police Spokesperson, the incident occurred on March 31 at around 4pm. The toddler had been left in the care of her 11-year-old brother while their 20-year-old mother briefly went to take a bath.

Body of missing Mwenezi nurse found after 19 days in flooded river
HARARE – The body of a 64-year-old nurse from Mwenezi, Frank Siziba, has been recovered nearly three weeks after the flooded Muchingwizi River swept him away. Police confirmed that Siziba’s remains were discovered on Wednesday, March 25, about five kilometres downstream from a river crossing point where he is believed to have been carried away.
