The death toll from Wednesday morning's tragic road accident along the Gokwe–Kwekwe Highway has risen to 10, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed. In a statement released on Thursday, police said the fatal crash occurred at around 5:00 am at the 110-kilometre peg along the Gokwe–Kwekwe Road as a Trip Trans bus carrying 36 passengers travelled towards Kwekwe.

The fatal road accident occurred along the busy Sengwa Colliery–Kwekwe route and is being treated as a developing story, with authorities yet to confirm the official death toll or the exact cause of the crash. Videos from the accident scene circulated widely on social media on Wednesday morning, showing severe damage to the vehicles involved and drawing emotional reactions from Zimbabweans concerned about rising road carnage.
