BULAWAYO — Ariana Resources plc has launched an exploration drilling programme at its 1-million-ounce Dokwe Gold Project in Tsholotsho District, marking a key step in expanding the project’s known resource base and assessing future mine development potential.
The reverse-circulation (RC) drilling campaign, which began in early November, will test four defined target areas across the Dokwe tenure, totalling several thousand metres. The initiative aims to identify extensions to existing mineralisation hosted on major shear zones that define the current >1Moz resource, with the goal of unlocking further economic potential.
Located approximately 110 km northwest of Bulawayo within an underexplored Archaean greenstone belt, Dokwe is one of Zimbabwe’s emerging gold prospects. Ariana’s exploration approach integrates systematic drilling, geochemical surveys, and structural interpretation to convert promising targets into drill-defined resources. The company believes that the current deposits occupy only a small portion of a 12 km structural corridor, signalling significant upside along strike and at depth.
Ariana highlighted its commitment to regulatory compliance and community engagement, noting the use of local contractors and close coordination with provincial authorities to manage environmental and social impacts responsibly. The collected data will underpin future resource updates and feasibility assessments, aligning with reporting standards for its AIM and ASX listings.
Market analysts say that successful drilling results could enhance Ariana’s project valuation and attract greater investor confidence in Zimbabwe’s gold sector, which is regaining momentum amid rising commodity prices and renewed exploration interest across southern Africa. However, they caution that outcomes will depend on the continuity of mineralisation and assay results once the campaign concludes.
The Dokwe drilling campaign marks a strategic exploration milestone for Ariana Resources as it advances its Zimbabwean portfolio, with milestone updates and assay results expected in the coming months.
