Buhera Man Found Dead After Vehicle Sale

 Police are investigating the death of Buhera man Edmore Chirombe after he was found dead following a vehicle transaction.

HARARE- A Buhera man was found dead in his bedroom the morning after he allegedly left home in his vehicle following negotiations with an unidentified prospective buyer. Edmore Chirombe, of Chikurure Primary School in Buhera, was found dead on September 10, a day after the unidentified man visited his homestead to discuss buying his vehicle.

Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the incident, saying investigations were underway. According to police, the prospective buyer arrived at Chirombe’s home at about 10 am on September 9. Chirombe’s domestic worker, Arnold Musamadya, 26, reportedly witnessed the two men discussing the vehicle.

The unidentified man left the homestead at around midday, while Chirombe remained at home for another two hours. Police said Chirombe later left the property at about 2 pm, driving the vehicle, but returned approximately two hours later on foot and without it. “At around 12 pm, the unknown person left Chirombe’s homestead. At around 2 pm, Chirombe left driving his vehicle and returned at around 4 pm walking on foot,” Chinyoka said.

The circumstances surrounding the vehicle’s disappearance and Chirombe’s movements between leaving home and returning on foot have become part of the police investigation. The following morning, Musamadya reportedly discovered that Chirombe’s bedroom door was locked from the inside, with the keys hanging on the padlock. He looked through a window and saw Chirombe lying motionless on his bed before alerting authorities.

Police from ZRP Buhera attended the scene and conducted an initial examination of the body.

Chinyoka said no visible injuries were found during the initial examination. “The body was inspected, and no visible injuries were noted. It was subsequently taken to Murambinda Mission Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Investigations are still in progress,” he said.

Police had not, at the time of reporting, disclosed the identity of the prospective buyer or confirmed what happened to the vehicle.

The cause of Chirombe’s death has also not been established. The post-mortem examination is expected to provide further information as investigators work to establish the circumstances surrounding his death. The case remains under investigation, and no conclusion about the cause or circumstances of the death should be drawn before the post-mortem and further police inquiries are completed.
