ZANU PF Leads Clean-Up Initiative at Sally Mugabe Hospital
SOUTHERTON Constituency came alive with renewed patriotic spirit as ZANU PF members converged at Sally Mugabe Hospital to mark the National Clean Up Day, a flagship programme declared by President Emmerson Mnangagwa and observed on the first Friday of every month. The campaign, which calls upon all citizens to take collective responsibility for a clean and healthy environment, has steadily grown into a unifying national movement anchored on discipline, service, and patriotism.
The clean-up exercise at the referral hospital drew party members from across the constituency, district officials, and hospital staff, who worked hand in hand in clearing litter, sweeping pathways, and tidying public spaces within the hospital precinct. The collaborative effort underscored the shared understanding that cleanliness is not merely a municipal duty but a national obligation that speaks to public health, dignity, and sustainable development.
Leading the exercise was ZANU PF Shadow Member of Parliament for Southerton, Cde Andrew Makahamadze, accompanied by district leadership and party officials. Their presence set the tone for an event that blended action with purpose, as members rolled up their sleeves to demonstrate commitment to the ideals behind the National Clean Up Day.
Aligning Local Action with President Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030
Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the exercise, Cde Makahamadze underscored the importance of emulating President Mnangagwa’s national goals and aspirations, which are firmly aligned to the attainment of Vision 2030. He said the clean-up programme is a practical expression of the President’s call for citizens to actively participate in nation-building through discipline, unity, and hard work.
“President Mnangagwa is a pragmatic leader whose transformative ideas have taken the country to greater heights,” said Cde Makahamadze. “From infrastructure development to social services, we continue to witness high-impact projects that are changing the face of Zimbabwe. As party members and citizens, it is our duty to emulate his leadership by translating vision into action, even in simple but meaningful initiatives such as keeping our environment clean.”

He further urged ZANU PF members to remain exemplary in their communities by championing cleanliness beyond designated days, noting that a clean environment contributes directly to improved health outcomes, especially at critical institutions such as hospitals.
Strengthening Community Bonds Through Civic Responsibility
Hospital staff welcomed the support, describing the initiative as timely and uplifting. The joint effort not only enhanced the physical outlook of the facility but also strengthened bonds between the community and health workers, reinforcing the shared responsibility of safeguarding public spaces.
As Zimbabwe marches towards Vision 2030, the Southerton clean-up campaign stood as a vivid reminder that national development is built through consistent, collective action. In sweeping corridors and clearing refuse, participants reaffirmed a simple yet powerful message: a clean nation begins with committed citizens working together for the common good.
