Veteran forward Knowledge Musona has been ruled out of Zimbabwe’s November international fixtures after sustaining a hamstring injury while playing for Scottland FC, the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) announced on 9 November 2025. The association confirmed the injury occurred during a league match and that medical staff have already begun outlining his rehabilitation plan.

In response to the setback, ZIFA named European-based midfielder Tivonge Rushesha as Musona’s replacement. The reshuffle continued as Scottland FC striker Tymon Machope was also ruled out with a calf strain, prompting the call-up of Isheanesu Mauchi of Simba Bhora. The double injury blow—both suffered in the same domestic fixture—has affected several clubs’ short-term plans and triggered widespread fitness assessments within the national pool.

Newly appointed head coach Marian Marinica now faces the challenge of reorganising attacking structures ahead of upcoming friendlies in the Gulf. With Musona’s proven experience, aerial strength, and finishing ability unavailable, technical observers believe the door opens for younger forwards to showcase their potential—but it also narrows the margin for error in the squad’s tactical execution.

Medical experts stressed that hamstring injuries vary widely in severity and that premature returns significantly increase the risk of recurrence. Coaching staff have long emphasised the importance of graded rehabilitation, proper load management, and physiotherapy—especially for senior players with intensive match histories. Reports from SoccerLaduma and coaching analysts highlight the need for progressive conditioning to avoid long-term setbacks.

“Losing Musona is a blow to the attack; the squad must adapt quickly,” a team source said.

With the veteran sidelined, the Warriors will now rely on a blend of emerging talent and experienced regulars. The matches in Qatar and Saudi Arabia are expected to serve as a crucial assessment of squad depth, cohesion, and readiness ahead of the 2025 AFCON qualification campaign.
