The escalating conflict in the Middle East took a harrowing turn yesterday as joint military operations by the United States and Israel resulted in significant civilian casualties. Among the most devastating reports is the bombing of a girls' elementary school in southern Iran, an event that has ignited international outrage and shifted the focus from strategic military objectives to a burgeoning humanitarian crisis.

Strikes Across the Islamic Republic

Operation "Epic Fury" and "Roaring Lion" saw coordinated strikes reaching from Babolsar in the north to the port of Chabahar in the south [00:00]. Major cities, including the capital Tehran, Isfahan, and Karaj, were targeted in what appears to be an attempt to decapitate Iran’s leadership and military infrastructure.

In Tehran, high-security areas were hit, specifically Pastoor Street, which houses the Supreme Leader’s office, the Office of the President, and the IRGC Intelligence Center [00:22]. Satellite imagery has confirmed extensive damage to the Supreme Leader’s office, though reports indicate he was not in the city at the time of the attack [00:45].

The Massacre at Minab

Despite the high-profile targets in the capital, the most significant tragedy occurred in Minab, a city in the southern Hormozgan province. A girls' elementary school was directly hit during the bombardment [01:03].

The Iranian Foreign Minister confirmed that children are among the dozens killed in the strike [01:09]. Analysis of the area shows that the school is located within a residential stretch bordered by agricultural land, raising urgent questions about the targeting intelligence used during the operation [01:15]. While the U.S. and Israel have maintained that strikes are directed at military installations, the devastation in this residential zone has sparked a global debate on the "collateral damage" of this new war.

In immediate response to the strikes and the civilian deaths, Tehran has launched a counter-offensive. Missiles and drones have been intercepted throughout the region as Iran targets U.S. military bases across the Middle East [01:29].

"Weeks of diplomacy and military buildup have now resulted in this," analysts noted as the region plunged into what many fear is an irreversible cycle of violence [01:57]. With Iran now launching missiles directly into Israel, the conflict has officially moved beyond a localized exchange into a full-scale regional war.
