Police have arrested a 45-year-old man from Kadoma following a tragic domestic violence incident in which his wife and heavily pregnant daughter were killed. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the arrest of Obert Namurokosi in connection with two counts of murder that occurred in Victory Park on 3 May 2026.

According to police, the incident was triggered by a domestic dispute between Obert Namurokosi and his wife, Cynthia Namurokosi (45). Following the altercation, Cynthia reportedly sought refuge at the home of their daughter, Takudzwa Namurokosi (23), on 2 May. Authorities say the suspect followed her the next day, armed with a kitchen knife.

“The ZRP confirms the arrest of Obert Namurokosi (45) in connection with two cases of murder which occurred on 03/05/26 in Victory Park, Kadoma,” police said in a statement.
“He allegedly stabbed his daughter, who was nine months pregnant, multiple times before turning on his wife, whom he stabbed on the neck. Both victims succumbed to the injuries.”

Residents in Victory Park have been left shaken by the brutality of the incident, particularly the killing of a pregnant woman. An eyewitness, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the neighbourhood was still struggling to come to terms with the tragedy.

“We heard screams and then everything went quiet. It is heartbreaking, especially because the daughter was expecting a child,” the resident said.

The case has once again drawn attention to the prevalence of domestic violence in Zimbabwe, with advocacy groups calling for stronger intervention mechanisms and community awareness. Legal and social experts warn that unresolved domestic disputes can escalate into extreme violence if not addressed early. Authorities have urged members of the public to seek help through community leaders, counselling services, or law enforcement agencies when facing domestic conflicts.

Police say investigations into the incident are ongoing, and the suspect remains in custody.

The identities of the victims have been confirmed, and authorities are working with family members as the community prepares for burial arrangements.
