HARARE – The Miss Budiriro 2025 Beauty Pageant is expanding its social mission with new plans to deepen advocacy around drug awareness, rehabilitation, and youth empowerment. Organisers have expressed interest in partnering with the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) to develop a “Miss Prisons” initiative, aimed at promoting rehabilitation, reintegration, and community upliftment.
Set for 6 December 2025 in Harare’s Budiriro constituency, the Models Awards Ceremony will merge glamour with civic responsibility under the theme “Girl Child Against Drug Trafficking and Abuse.” Organisers say the event seeks to transform fashion and entertainment into platforms for meaningful social impact.
Event spokesperson Tobias Kusano said the team’s long-term vision is to connect the pageant’s advocacy work with national institutions to strengthen anti-drug campaigns and rehabilitation awareness.
“We believe beauty with purpose should go beyond the runway. Our dream is to collaborate with rehabilitation experts and correctional institutions to give young women a voice in shaping positive change,” said Kusano.
The 2025 edition is open to entrants aged 16–30 and offers prizes, mentorship, and entertainment. Contestants will also attend workshops in public speaking, personal branding, and community mobilisation, led by local professionals dedicated to developing civic-minded models.
Leading up to the event, participants will take part in school visits, community clean-ups, and public awareness drives aimed at amplifying anti-drug messages. Organisers believe these outreach activities prepare contestants to embody leadership and advocacy beyond the competition itself.
The entertainment lineup includes performances by Veterinary DJ Tando and Talking Guitars, with additional surprise acts. Registered models will receive meals, travel support, and participation perks, while entrants who bring three friends gain free entry. Limited transport assistance will also be available for contestants from outlying areas.
Local business leaders and youth advocates have praised the initiative as a creative blend of arts, entrepreneurship, and social responsibility. Kusano described the pageant as more than a beauty contest — a movement for empowerment and transformation.
“Miss Budiriro 2025 is more than a show — it’s a movement that allows girls to shine, speak out, and take action against social ills affecting their generation,” he said.
