Musician Tatuh Maluba has penned a heartfelt dedication to the victims, families, and friends affected by the tragic Kariba boat incident that occurred on Tuesday, August 11. Describing the weight of the disaster, Maluba says it left him in a "pure and extreme state of melancholy."
The song, titled "Kariva", is his way of mourning with the nation.
"No amount of words or song can feel the depth of pain those bereaved are going through," Maluba said.
"This is not a case where you say each to their own. On this we are a community, we are one. When one cries we cry together."
On August 11, a boat capsized in Kariba, leaving families devastated and a community in mourning. The incident sent shockwaves across the country. With "Kariva", Maluba joins other artists and Zimbabweans who have come together to offer comfort, solidarity, and remembrance to those impacted. The track serves as both a tribute and a reminder that in times of tragedy, unity matters more than words.
