Top female musicians will headline Nubian Notes, an all-female concert celebrating women in music, at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC) on November 8, in what promoters describe as the biggest single-night showcase of female talent in Zimbabwe this year. Organisers say the event underscores growing demand for platforms that elevate women’s visibility and commercial prospects in the industry.
Gateway Stream Media, a subsidiary of Rainbow Tourism Group, and ZAR Events are staging the show featuring Feli Nandi, Gemma Griffiths, Tamy Moyo, Shashl and Nisha Ts across a blend of Afro-fusion, pop, dancehall and hip-hop. Gateway Stream Media manager Elton Kurima described Nubian Notes as “a movement to champion and elevate women in music,” promising a high-calibre production celebrating expertise, enthusiasm and craftsmanship.
Elevating female artistry
Promoters say the concert is a milestone for gender representation in Zimbabwe’s music landscape, promoted under the theme “Mambokadzi — The Rise of Her Sound.” The aim is to spotlight female artistry at headline level, open stronger collaborative pathways, and attract sponsorship investments that extend beyond a single night. Feli Nandi said the show affirms that “women belong at the forefront of our music scene,” while Tamy Moyo noted it will “debunk industry myths that women cannot carry big commercial shows.”
Major venue and broadcast ambitions
Gateway Stream Media, active since 2020 in live events promotion, is partnering with ZAR Events on production logistics and sponsorship outreach. HICC’s capacity and technical infrastructure were key factors in the venue’s selection, enabling both a large in-person audience and a broadcast-quality live feed intended to boost regional reach. Ticketing and VIP details have been rolled out through official event channels.
The concert aligns with a wider movement of women-focused platforms globally aimed at countering persistent market imbalances in headline festival billing and commercial backing for female performers. Locally, industry stakeholders have increasingly called for more equitable programming to strengthen women’s career sustainability and market power.
