Grammy-nominated rapper Offset is currently recovering in a Florida hospital after being shot on Monday evening outside a prominent South Florida landmark. The incident, which occurred at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, FL, has sent shockwaves through the global hip-hop community and raised fresh concerns regarding security at high-profile entertainment venues.
The shooting took place shortly after 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 6, 2026. According to reports from the Seminole Police Department, the altercation occurred in the casino's busy valet area. Witness accounts describe a chaotic scene as gunfire erupted, sending patrons at the "Guitar Hotel" diving for cover.
A representative for the former Migos star, born Kiari Kendrell Cephus, confirmed the news to TMZ and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:
"We can confirm Offset was shot and is currently at the hospital receiving medical care. He is stable and being closely monitored."
Seminole Police officials were reportedly on-site immediately and managed to contain the situation within minutes. Authorities confirmed that the victim later identified as Offset sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood for emergency treatment.
“Two individuals have been detained by police,” a spokesperson for the Seminole Police stated. “The investigation is ongoing. The site is secure, and there is no threat to the public. Operations at the casino continue as normal.”
While police have not yet released a motive, viral social media footage allegedly shows the rapper in a "heated verbal altercation" shortly before the shots were fired. Rumors involving fellow artist Lil Tjay circulated briefly, but Tjay’s legal team, led by attorney Dawn Florio, has strictly denied any involvement, stating the rapper faced no charges.
For fans of the Atlanta-based trio Migos, the news hits particularly hard. It comes less than four years after the tragic death of Offset's cousin and bandmate, Takeoff, who was fatally shot in Houston in November 2022.
Offset, known for hits like "Bad and Boujee" and his solo work such as "Father of 4," has been a pivotal figure in defining the modern "trap" sound. The Southerton Business Times will continue to monitor the impact of this incident on his upcoming tour dates and business ventures.
