WHEN THE THESPIAN BUG HAS BITTEN YOU SO HARD

Legendary actress Jesesi Mungoshi leads a fine ensemble of thespians to London on November 15, 2026, for the world premiere of "Kudzamara Rufu", bringing a deeply Zimbabwean story to the world stage and proving once again why the woman who broke barriers for our women in film and television is still reigning.
The face that broke barriers in the early 90s, Jesesi has left a lasting impression on the hearts of many, because she did not just act, she opened doors that had been closed for generations of Zimbabwean women on screen and on stage.
When others were told to stay quiet, to stay small, to stay in the background, Jesesi stepped forward and demanded that our stories be told by us, in our voice, with our truth, and she carried that truth with a dignity that made the whole nation stop and watch.

Her name is written in our film history, from the unforgettable "Neria", where she gave a performance that became part of our national memory, to "African Journey, where she first showed the world her range, to "Rwendo" to "Cook Off," where she stole hearts as Gogo, and to "Shaina", where she proved once again that true talent does not age, it deepens.
She also carried our television screens in classics like "Inongove Njake Njake", "Ndabve Zera", "Roja" and "Ngozi, becoming the face a generation trusted, the mother, the sister, the neighbour, the woman who could make you laugh in one scene and break your heart in the next and she did it without ever losing herself.
Now she returns in "Kudzamara Rufu", a story that dares to ask the hard questions. When a wealthy 80-year-old widower is offered a 15-year-old schoolgirl as an inherited wife, he instead finds forbidden love with his 80-year-old widowed neighbour, sparking a scandal that forces their village to choose between harmful tradition and true love.
It is a story about age, about dignity, about tradition versus love and there is no one better to carry it than Jesesi, alongside Stephen Chigorimbo, Charles Mzemba, Charles Mucheriwa, Gamuchirai Dube, and introducing Rose Kaisi.
Decades later, that fire has not dimmed, and on the 15th, she and a fine ensemble of thespians will premiere Kudzamara Rufu in the UK, bringing a deeply Zimbabwean story to a London stage.
This is not a comeback, because legends do not come back, they continue, and Jesesi continues to show us what greatness looks like when it is rooted in culture, in courage, and in love for the people.
