MUTARE – ZANU PF's Manicaland Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) has recommended the suspension of Nyanga Central Committee member Moses Gutu over allegations of indiscipline after he reportedly criticised the party's position on Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 (CAB3). The recommendation was adopted during a Provincial Executive Committee meeting held at Mutare Teachers' College on Monday.

Provincial Commissar Albert Nyakuedzwa confirmed the development, saying the recommendation would be forwarded to the party's National Commissariat for consideration in line with ZANU PF disciplinary procedures. According to party officials, Gutu is accused of embarking on a series of meetings across Manicaland Province during which he allegedly criticised and denounced Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3, a position that party leaders say contradicts the official stance adopted by ZANU PF.

Several videos circulating on social media appear to show Gutu expressing opposition to the proposed constitutional amendments. The videos have attracted widespread attention and are understood to have prompted discussions within the provincial leadership.

Party sources said the Provincial Executive Committee resolved to recommend Gutu's suspension pending disciplinary proceedings. If endorsed by the National Commissariat, the suspension would pave the way for a formal disciplinary hearing, where Gutu would have an opportunity to respond to the allegations against him in accordance with the party's constitution and disciplinary processes.

ZANU PF has previously maintained that members are expected to uphold and publicly support resolutions adopted by the party's leadership, with disciplinary measures available for conduct deemed to undermine party policies or bring the organisation into disrepute. At the time of publication, Moses Gutu had not publicly responded to the recommendation, and it was not immediately clear whether he had been formally notified of the Provincial Executive Committee's decision.

The National Commissariat is expected to determine the next course of action after receiving the recommendation from the Manicaland provincial leadership.
