British-born Zimbabwean midfielder Teshaun Murisa has taken a major step in his football career after signing his first professional contract with Arsenal FC at just 17 years old.
The highly rated youngster has been part of Arsenal’s famed Hale End academy since the age of six, spending more than a decade developing within one of English football’s most respected youth systems. The contract was signed on Tuesday at the club’s Sobha Realty Training Centre, with Murisa surrounded by close family members who have supported him throughout his journey.
Describing the moment as deeply emotional, Murisa said the deal represented the fulfilment of a lifelong ambition.
“I’m very delighted to achieve my dream of signing my first professional contract, especially with such a big club like Arsenal,” he said. “I’ve been here since I was six, so it means even more to me. I’m really thankful to my family for always supporting me we’ve been through a lot together.”
Murisa’s rise through the Hale End ranks has been marked by steady progression and collective success. He was part of the Arsenal Under-16 side that lifted the Premier League Cup and later featured in the FA Youth Cup clash against Manchester United FC at the Emirates Stadium an experience he describes as formative.

Beyond silverware, the midfielder credits the strong bonds within his age group for shaping both his character and performances on the pitch.
“We really connect, not just as players but as friends. We’ve become like a family,” Murisa said, singling out teammates such as Maalik Hashi, Saurap Sampang and Max Dowman.
Murisa also revealed that he draws inspiration from Arsenal’s senior squad, particularly England international Declan Rice.
“It’s important to have first-team players you want to be like. They give you something to aspire to,” he said. “Players like Declan Rice offer advice and help you understand what it takes to reach that level.”
The professional deal marks another milestone for the Zimbabwean-eligible midfielder, who now sets his sights on continuing his development and eventually breaking into Arsenal’s first team. His progress will be closely followed by fans both in England and Zimbabwe, where interest in emerging diaspora talent continues to grow.
