Residents of Chitungwiza have approached the High Court seeking an order compelling the municipality to repair its ageing sewer infrastructure and end decades of raw sewage pollution.

HARARE — A 45-year-old man from Chitungwiza allegedly became the victim of a sexual assault and robbery after being lured into a suspected illegal mushikashika taxi while travelling from Harare to Chitungwiza on Sunday, police have confirmed. The incident has raised fresh concerns over the safety of commuters using unregistered public transport vehicles operating along major routes in Harare and Chitungwiza.

The Chitungwiza Municipality has announced that rehabilitation works on a key section of Seke Road will begin on Monday, May 4, 2026, with completion expected within eight weeks.
