HARARE, ZIMBABWE – The Air Force of Zimbabwe has rescued 13 villagers, including infants and elderly people, who were stranded by rising floodwaters at Mazuva Dam along the Mwenezi River in Chiredzi District. The group, from Magwambani Village under Chief Sengwe, had been cut off after water levels surged following heavy rains across Masvingo Province.

The group, which had travelled to the island for seasonal farming and fishing, is now cut off as persistent rains continue to swell the river, making safe passage impossible.
