MASVINGO – A 47-year-old Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officer stationed at Chikuku Police Base in Bikita has been acquitted of rape after the Masvingo Magistrates' Court ruled that the evidence presented did not prove the offence beyond a reasonable doubt. Magistrate Archie Wochiungwa delivered the judgment on 2 July 2026, finding that the complainant and the accused were in a consensual relationship at the time of the alleged incident.

MUTARE – A 29-year-old Mutare mushikashika operator has been arrested after allegedly assaulting a Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officer at a service station, an incident that was captured on video and widely circulated on social media. The suspect, Brendon Tsakatsa, of Chikanga 1, was arrested in connection with the incident, which police said occurred on 29 June 2026.

HARARE – The Harare Magistrates' Court has sentenced three Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officers to five years' imprisonment each after convicting them of criminal abuse of office following an anti-corruption investigation. The convictions were confirmed on Friday by ZRP national spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, who said the officers were arrested during an operation conducted by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Police Anti-Corruption Unit.

HARARE – A 24-year-old man from Houghton Park has been arrested after allegedly stealing a truck carrying 42,000 litres of ethanol in Waterfalls, Harare. The suspect, Tawanda Timu Zingwanda, was apprehended on Friday after allegedly driving away with a Scania 440-horsepower truck valued at approximately US$100,000, prompting a police pursuit that ended with his arrest.

CHINHOYI – The High Court in Chinhoyi has sentenced a 28-year-old man to 20 years in prison for the murder of his 86-year-old father after accusing the elderly man of practising witchcraft. Justice Phildah Muzofa convicted Talent Chirongoma of murder with constructive intent, ruling that he repeatedly assaulted his father with wooden logs during a violent attack at the family's homestead on September 10, 2025.

HARARE – A conductor employed by Bolt Cutter Bus Company, which operates the Harare–Mudzi route, has been arrested following the alleged assault of two passengers in an incident that was captured on video and widely circulated on social media. The alleged assault reportedly occurred on June 25, 2026, at Musami Cross in the Domborembudzi area of Murehwa District, sparking public outrage after footage of the confrontation went viral online.

Two Irish nationals and a Zimbabwean woman have each been fined US$110 after pleading guilty to possessing dagga discovered during a police operation at a Harare hotel.

HARARE — A 45-year-old man from Chitungwiza allegedly became the victim of a sexual assault and robbery after being lured into a suspected illegal mushikashika taxi while travelling from Harare to Chitungwiza on Sunday, police have confirmed. The incident has raised fresh concerns over the safety of commuters using unregistered public transport vehicles operating along major routes in Harare and Chitungwiza.
