Belgian football giants RSC Anderlecht are reportedly preparing a fresh transfer move for Zimbabwe international Tawanda Maswanhise following his outstanding season with Motherwell FC. According to reports from Scottish media, Anderlecht remains highly interested in the 23-year-old forward after failing to secure his signature during the January transfer window when negotiations reportedly fell short of Motherwell’s valuation.
Maswanhise enjoyed a sensational campaign in the Scottish Premiership, finishing as Motherwell’s top scorer with 17 league goals. The Zimbabwean striker also ended the season as the Premiership’s Golden Boot winner, cementing his reputation as one of the league’s rising attacking talents.
Reports indicate that Motherwell are unwilling to part with Maswanhise cheaply, with the Scottish club believed to be demanding at least £3 million for the striker. The Fir Park side still holds a strong negotiating position, as Maswanhise has one year remaining on his contract, with an option to extend it by a further year. The former Leicester City FC academy player joined Motherwell two years ago after leaving the English club and has since scored 28 goals in 72 appearances across all competitions. His performances played a major role in Motherwell securing a fourth-place finish, qualification for European football, and their highest points tally in more than a decade.
Maswanhise’s rapid rise has attracted attention from several clubs across Europe and beyond.
In recent months, the Zimbabwe international has been linked with clubs including Blackburn Rovers FC, Al Ahly SC, and Celtic FC. However, Anderlecht now appears determined to reignite talks as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of next season. The Belgian side is among the most successful clubs in European football history and regularly competes in UEFA competitions, potentially offering Maswanhise a major platform to elevate his career further.
Speaking recently about growing transfer speculation, Maswanhise said he remained focused on improving his game while keeping an open mind about future opportunities.
“If a team wants you, you’ve just got to show them why they want you, but that shouldn’t be the main focus,” he said. “You've just got to keep working then when the summertime’s here, off-season, you can really look at your options and stuff.
“I always think about my future. I love my future because it’s exciting. With the achievements I’ve had this year, there’s more on the table for me, so we’ll see. Who knows what will happen in the future.”
Motherwell are already dealing with major changes following the recent departure of manager Jens Berthel Askou, who left the Scottish club to join French side Toulouse FC. Losing Maswanhise would represent another significant setback, although the club is expected to resist any offers below its valuation.
