HARARE — Benjamin Lock, one of the Lock brothers, has pledged to bring his network of professional tennis and golf colleagues to The Hills Luxury Golf Estate in Harare, signalling growing international interest in the city’s developing luxury and sports‑focused lifestyle destination.
Speaking during a recent familiarisation tour of the estate, Benjamin Lock said he will invite players to train and relax at the facility and will introduce potential property investors to the project. The Locks have signed an agreement with Westprop Holdings to establish the Lock Brothers Tennis Academy at The Hills, a move that integrates elite sport with high‑end residential living.
Dual sports offering aimed at attracting global talent and investment
Benjamin described the estate’s combined tennis and championship golf facilities as a unique selling point.
“It is a dream for most of my professional players to come to Africa and to Zimbabwe,” he said, adding that many ATP players prefer pre‑season training in November and December and would welcome the opportunity to train in Harare.
He emphasised the appeal of a dual offering: elite tennis training alongside championship golf, complemented by wellness and lifestyle amenities such as swimming, paddle tennis and five‑aside soccer. The academy will feature state‑of‑the‑art tennis courts and paddle courts, inspired by global benchmarks including Bali’s Morotobi Tennis Centre, which Benjamin recently visited.
Legacy, development, and community impact
For the Lock brothers, the academy is framed as a legacy project. Benjamin said the initiative is about more than sport: it is about giving back to Zimbabwe, nurturing young talent and showcasing what can be achieved through strong partnerships.
“We have always wanted to establish a world‑class tennis centre with my brother an example to the rest of the world of what can be done here with strong partnerships and collaborations,” he said. The project is expected to create training opportunities for local athletes and to raise Zimbabwe’s profile in modern racket sports.
Progress on the golf course and estate amenities
An avid golfer himself, Benjamin praised the rapid progress on the estate’s golf course. He described the course as coming together quickly and predicted the finished product would be a major draw for residents and visiting athletes alike. The Hills is being positioned as a luxury lifestyle estate combining residential property, elite sports facilities, and wellness offerings to attract both lifestyle buyers and international investors.
Strategic partnership and investment potential
The partnership with Westprop Holdings positions The Hills as a convergence point for sport, leisure, and property investment. Partying the tennis academy with residential sales and hospitality offerings aims to create multiple revenue streams and to attract professional sports personalities as both visitors and investors.
Benjamin said professional players often look for destinations where they can train and invest, and he expects The Hills to appeal to that market. The estate’s planners hope the combination of international sporting standards, luxury living, and strategic marketing will draw capital inflows and boost local tourism.
