HARARE — Zimbabwean film producer Marc T Mandisoul has been nominated for the Global Entrepreneurs Award at the Global Industry Awards, an honour organisers say recognises excellence, innovation and transformational leadership across industries. The ceremony will be held from November 21 to 23 at La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra, Ghana.

Mandisoul described the nomination as a milestone that goes beyond personal recognition. “Being nominated for the Global Entrepreneurs Award is not just a personal milestone; it is a reminder that creativity, resilience and purpose can transcend borders,” he told NewsDay Life & Style. “This nomination celebrates not only my journey but the spirit of every dreamer who dares to build beyond limitations.”

The nomination acknowledges Mandisoul’s sustained contribution to Zimbabwe’s film and creative sector, where he has championed opportunities for local filmmakers to reach regional and international markets. Through his company, Entertainment Studios, he has promoted collaboration, training and resource-sharing within the local industry, aiming to create a sustainable, innovative production ecosystem.

His acclaimed productions include Roots of Freedom (2020), City of Dreams (2018), Shadows of the Past (2017) and Ubuntu Chronicles (2015), which helped elevate local production standards and introduced Zimbabwean narratives to wider audiences through festival circuits and streaming platforms.

Mandisoul’s career is decorated with numerous accolades, including the African Film & Entertainment Excellence Award (2021), Zimbabwe Film Industry Innovator of the Year (2019), Best Producer at the Zimbabwe Film and Television Awards (2018), and an International Achievement Award in Entertainment (2017). He was also previously shortlisted for the Global Entrepreneurs Award in 2023.

Beyond production, he has invested in capacity building through mentorship initiatives and local partnerships designed to strengthen every stage of the film value chain—from script development to post-production and marketing. Industry peers say his leadership has empowered emerging filmmakers to navigate financing, meet international standards and secure distribution.

Experts note that international awards like the Global Industry Awards can open doors for investment and cross-border collaboration, giving visibility to talent from underrepresented regions. “Recognition like this attracts partners, investors and commissioning editors looking for new voices,” said a Harare-based film consultant.

Mandisoul dedicated his nomination to Zimbabwe’s creative community, saying, “This is not just about one name on a shortlist; it is a nod to the teams, the crews and the storytellers who keep showing up.”

The Global Industry Awards feature multiple categories celebrating entrepreneurs, innovators and policymakers who drive global progress. Winners will be announced at the Accra ceremony later this month.
