The three wise men from the bible

Being well sometimes does not depend on what we eat or drink. It’s all about cultivating a strong, positive mindset. When I started military training in the coldest month of June in Gweru, I seriously considered going back home. The training was torture, and the treatment from our ‘barbaric’ and annoying course instructors made it unbearable.

King James

When life reaches its limits, the mind will quickly divert you to a comfort zone. I then began to appreciate the decision of the prodigal son to return home as a slave in his father’s house rather than sleeping with pigs. I’m reminded of the four lepers in 2 Kings who overcame their leprous condition and walked into the Syrian camp. It was painful and frightening to just walk into enemy territory, but their resilient mindset got them there. And they remembered to share the good news with their campmates.

Positive thinking enhances both physical and mental health. Stress significantly reduces, making our immune systems better and our lives longer.

Key Benefits of Optimism:

  • Boosts Physical Health: strengthens the immune system and lowers rates of cardiovascular disease.

  • Reduces Stress & Anxiety: cortisol levels reduce, decreasing the risk of depression.

  • Agility: There’s no room for setbacks or failures in a positive-minded person. The body heals faster.

  • Longevity: It’s been proven that optimists have longer lifespans with healthier lives.

  • Wisdom: Positive-minded individuals often make healthier lifestyle choices, such as eating better and exercising more.

  • Stronger Bonds: Social connections and supportive environments usually result from positive psychology.

  • Boosts Productivity: Environments that promote growth-oriented thinking boost productivity. Employers must take note.

Galatians poster

So much for positive thinking. I believe we can overcome our fears the moment we choose to be optimistic. Let’s nurture this wellness skill by practicing gratitude. Being negative in the face of tough situations shatters positive thinking. Surround yourself with the right-minded people. Look at challenges with the joy of picking opportunities out of them.

Even when life’s looking gloomy, tell yourself that it’s going to be a lovely day. Such positive talk will transform your life. The four lepers were successful in their mission because they had Unity of purpose. Surround yourself with like-minded people who will build positive-mindedness and support you through your cause. Transform your life today. Choose positive thinking.

Positive thinking is always tolen from us by cares and burdens of this world, Thank you Dr Sibiya for an insightful article, I have drawn very strong lessons from the lepers. In our most vulnerable situations we can become big solutions to mankind, if we cultivate positive thinking, confessions and actions.
