Zanu-PF’s inaugural President’s Ball has raised more than US$9 million, exceeding its US$6 million target as the ruling party mobilises funds for its forthcoming national conference in Chinhoyi.

The fundraising dinner featured an auction of personal academic and professional memorabilia belonging to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, including records from his 1975 graduation class at the University of Zambia (UNZA), his dissertation, graduation certificate and a framed photograph commemorating his admission to the Bar in 1976.

The amount raised exceeds the original target by more than US$3 million, providing a significant fundraising boost ahead of the party’s national gathering scheduled for October 12 to 17. The event brought together party leaders and invited guests as Zanu-PF sought financial support for preparations for the conference.

The auction of Mnangagwa’s academic and professional records formed part of the evening’s fundraising activities, with the items reflecting milestones in the President’s education and legal career. The President’s Ball marks a fundraising initiative aimed at supporting the logistical and organisational requirements of the party’s forthcoming conference. The gathering is scheduled to take place in Chinhoyi, Mashonaland West Province, from October 12 to 17.
