A community‑based organisation, Selecta Base Foundation, on Friday donated food hampers to elderly residents and people living with disabilities (PWDs) in Sunningdale, Harare, as part of an outreach under the theme “Together We Can Make a Difference.” Foundation leader Arnold Chigwerewe said caring for vulnerable members of society is a shared responsibility that begins with compassion and action.

Arnold Chigwerewe: “You don’t have to wait until you are rich to help others. It starts with compassion, unity and action.”

Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume praised the initiative, noting it supports vulnerable groups, promotes social cohesion, and creates short‑term employment through community events. He also acknowledged ongoing service delivery challenges in the city, including water shortages, sewer bursts, and deteriorating road infrastructure, and said the council is working with government ministries on sustainable solutions.
